The FVGCA was organized in 1952 by a group of general contractors who gathered together to form an association that would lend support to other general contractors. CRNAs are independently licensed nurses who provide anesthesia services in collaboration with physicians. These physicians may be anesthesiologists, surgeons, obstetricians, dentists, or podiatrists. Nurse anesthetists are accountable for their individual practices, and are capable of exercising independent professional judgment within their scope of competence and licenser. Anesthesia is part of nursing practice by historic and legal precedent.
